This is a test of the DreamWidth cross-posting system. For those who care about these things, I'm sharon_lee -- http://sharon-lee.dreamwidth.org/ -- (hey, for once I get to use my Actual Name, without being offered the option of being SharonLeeOneMillionNineHundredThousandEtcEtc). I don't expect to be leaving Live Journal anytime soon, but it's nice to give people different ways to find one.

For the moment I've named the new journal same as the old, but yanno? A new journal? With! my! own! name! attached to it? Maybe it ought to have a spiffy new title.

Suggestions?

How about Riding the Carousel?

FYI, I had heard the dreamwidth system was supposed to allow OpenID posting but the option couldn't be selected.

Because your friend does not allow anonymous posting, you have to login (either with a regular account or an OpenID account) before you hit reply to the post. Also, you'll have to confirm an e-mail address with the OpenID account; you only have to do that once.

If you haven't already logged into Dreamwidth with OpenID, you can set it up at http://dreamwidth.org/openid/

And the clue this was necessary is what???

This seems to be an unnecessary complication. Or more likely a way to harvest email addresses.

I'm going to be really upset if I get anything but a confirmation email from these people.

How about if you get an invite (sic) for a proper account? You have to give your email address to LJ to join, what's the difference? (I gave DW the same one, in fact.)

what's the difference?

I chose to join LJ.

The whole point of OpenId is not to have to jump through hoops to leave a comment

For instance I also have this blogspot account and had no trouble leaving this comment.

I think comment replies are e-mailed by default.

And its purpose is to fight spammers, not harvest e-mail addresses.

Well, who are you?
I know who you are to me, but who are you to you?

The Bard of Liad -- that's you, not me.

No suggestions on journal title (I think it took me three years to come up with my own), but I am wondering know how many of us out there are using exactly the same icon

It is, in its way and for certain uses, The Perfect Icon.
