Don't Fear the Reaper
Wednesday, May 6th, 2009 08:16 amIn a surprise move, Blue Oyster Cult will be coming to Waterville, Maine on June 20 and playing a gig at Champions, the roughest club in the city (for the purposes of this inventory, I exclude The Chez, which is a bar, not a club). Tickets are $25 each.
*Rolanni wonders if this is worth getting her head broke for*
It is Turkey Season in our part of the world. As it happens, a turkey crossed the road in front of me and wandered down a driveway. The guy in the truck behind me pulled over and got out, rifle in hand. Note: Shooting from a paved road or within 100 feet of a dwelling (without owner's permission) is against the law. I hope he missed. I also hope that the car behind him was driven by a warden.
Speaking of surprise moves, the gay marriage bill has been passed by both the Maine House and Senate. It now needs to go back to the House for a final reading and then on to the governor, who has not yet made up his mind about signing it. I'm guessing he won't sign, but I'd love for him to disappoint me.
Quiet ol' morning, up here in the attic. I wonder where everyone is...

Date: 2009-05-06 01:40 pm (UTC)If the bird was stupid enough to walk on the road -- well it is a good thing someone took care of it.
I will admit the guy was stupid too. If you are not willing to follow reasonable gun laws, then you deserve to get caught.

Totally off topic
Date: 2009-05-06 04:29 pm (UTC)Within the first 120 pages I've already encountered a heavy battle cruiser christened Hexapuma and an Old Earth cat of the Maine coon variety who has been named Dicey.
The latter probably named after the dice game he was won in.
Dicey looks to be getting more print time too.
Just thought inquiring felines might want to know.

Date: 2009-05-06 08:21 pm (UTC)Man, I'm gonna have to make a macro.
I can find no website for Champions..where can I buy tickets?
But you can find the band's website, right? With the tour listing? And you can find the phone number for Champion's, right? And directions, too, first thing that popped up in my search. So you could like call them up?
club/bar
Date: 2009-05-06 09:33 pm (UTC)Why is turkey season in the spring? Aren't they skinny now? Isn't a rifle overkill?

Date: 2009-05-07 12:53 am (UTC)Actually, from my experiences in various industries, it's always turkey season somewhere. And some of them don't even realize how hard they make it to soar with the eagles.

Date: 2009-05-07 06:19 am (UTC)I thought the guys from the Blue Oyster Cult have all retired. Since they were already historical by the time I started picking up music CD 20 or so years ago. Rolanni definitely should take in a gig. The band isn't going to be around much longer. Besides, 25 bucks is about what you spend in service charges for most artistic events in Montreal now.
Talking about Artistic events. Does Rolanni knows about the Cavalia horse show running until June 7th in Montreal. It's popular and pricey. Link to show below.

The show might extended their Montreal schedule until the WorldCon. Previous tours have many extra shows added.
