Liaden Universe® InfoDump #74

DOUBLE VISION DOUBLE VISION
Hurry -- pre-orders close June 14 ... no, given the printing schedule adjustments, let's make that June 19! Right -- you have 5 extra days to order!
This huge 300 page plus SRM Publisher trade paperback collection of Lee & Miller's non-Liaden short work (that is, novella length and shorter) is
coming together and due out at the end of the month. Incldued are some of th authors earliest work, as well as some more recent.
There are individual stories here as well as collaborations, and you'll find the Liaden work pre-figured in some of the older pieces and echoed
(and perhaps pre-figured as well!) in some of the mid-date work.

Note: Due to prior contracts, this collection WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE ELECTRONICALLY. Most if these stories are available in e-formats, but not
in one place, by one publisher. Preorders for the signed first run are due in to SRM by June 19, 2009 (like a week from this Infodump!) Visit
https://www.srmpublisher.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=&idproduct=49 to order ... cover coming soon!

FACEBOOK
If you're on Facebook and are interested in matters Liaden you should know there are several groups of specific interest to
Lee and Miller readers. The groups: Friends of Liad and Flaran Cha'Menthi are the larger ones, and there's also a smaller
Clan Korval group. Look around to see who you may know, or jump on in. Steve is on Facebook but so far Sharon's been
sticking with LJ and the regular Liaden mailing lists. Consider joing a Liaden-specific list -- and add Steve as a friend if you like.

BAEN FLEDGLING E-ARC BUNDLE NOW AVAILABLE
Remember that the Fledgling electronic ARC (Advance Reading Copy) is now available from Baen Webscriptions (http://www.webscription.net//). Bundled with the E-arc are The Tomorrow Log and Dragon Tide. Because Dragon Tide is a shorter form than Webscriptions is accustomed to dealing with, it in turn has been bundled with TTL creating the "book" entitled The Tomorrow Log and Dragon Tide. Please note that the first draft of Fledgling has been removed from the web, as per the authors' agreement with Baen Books.

SCIENCE FICTION AND FANTASY WRITERS DAY
Sharon proposed this idea in her blog, and it seems to be a hit -- visit her original blog about it here:
http://rolanni.livejournal.com/439604.html and the
Facebook page for it here:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=96106336820

Be sure to celebrate your favorite authors on SF&F Writers day!

WORLDCON
Montreal -- WorldCon .. who wants to help plan an FoL breakfast? Maybe a Friends of Liad run to a local Italian restaurant
(I know, go to Montreal and look for Italian? But it'll be different Italian than we get in Waterville or Albany, Boston, I betcha!)
Will there be enough people going for a Friends of Liad party/suite/ fan table?
The fan table at Denvention worked well, I think and acted as a nexus for FoL. See the facebook groups above as well as the Friends of Liad mailing list and our blog -- let's start talking --
Anticipation is barely two months away!

SAMPLE CHAPTERS AND OTHER WORDS

There's a nice Italian restaurant Da Franco, on Notre Dame, easy walking distance from the Palais. See forthcoming Restaurant Guide or [livejournal.com profile] antici_food community.

New Format

Your new format is binjali. It is much easier to read on a hand-held device.
I enjoyed reading the Fledgling ARC. The changes made to this final draft both tied up loose ends and made 'better' sense of Theo's time on planet.

Double Vision

I'm interested in this book, but there's no list of included stories on the SRM site (or this blog entry). I have lots of your "stuff" in ebook form, (some of it as EBK file type and am nervous that someday a Microsoft update will make the EBK reader inoperative). My decision of whether to buy the book would be affected by how many stories I already have in what format.

Could the SRM description include the TOC?

Thanks,

Angie

PS Love your books and your blog (it's the only one I read so far)

The book contains about 125,000 words, so it's a handful.
