Cool and threatening rain, if not actually raining. Steve is making Variant Spaghetti for lunch. I've diddled around making the phone calls that I didn't make when I was in Phone Call Avoidance (man, I hate telephones).

What else?

Defragged my hard-drive, signed the Very Last of the Bookplates to go out to a bookstore, balanced the checkbook, uploaded photos to my Facebook account, did some minor straightening up around the house.

I've got some email to answer and database catch-up -- nothing too strenuous. May retire to the couch this afternoon and start reading Saltation, which will be my first read of the revised book. After I do that, Steve and I can talk about the next book, instead of just throwing around scenes, which is fun, but scenes do not a narrative make.

Work tomorrow. That's gonna be hard to remember.

The auction's still going on, for them with deep pockets: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320394084053&viewitem=&salenotsupported

Mozart's curled up on the blanket on the bed. Smart kitty. . .

Deep pockets indeed. If that price holds and you actually see the cash, the cats will eat well.

Yoicks! Too rich for my blood, but aren't you glad you didn't shred this?

*waves the 1x-100x cover price flag* :)
Though what was the original cover price? $3.95? $4.95? Looks like you might break that 100x barrier!

Oh, lemme see...

*gingerly fingers old Del Rey Agent from its place on the shelf*

$3.95 US/$5.50 Canada -- no, wait! This is a third printing. The price went up between February 1988 and October 1989, I betcha...

Yep. Conflict of Honors, first printing, June 1988 -- $3.50 US.

Amazed?

That's the fun of auctions -- all it takes is a couple of "comfortably well-off" fans, and you get to reap the (well-deserved) benefits. And every author with any fans at all has at least a handful of well-off fans.

I was also planning to bid, but we're into My Wife Wouldn't Understand territory... but I'm glad for you.

This has got to be really gratifying. Now you have to wait for the eSnipe users to put in their bids right at the last minute.

Gee, this has to be some kind of collectible...must be from some pretty famous authors. ::looks up at the ceiling and twiddles fingers innocently::
