Did you like Sabriel? It's been a favorite of mine. The next one is a little more angsty in the beginning, but contains one of the best libraries ever. Librarians go armed and outfitted for all sorts of travails.

Did I like Sabriel?

I liked many things about it -- the magical system, the world-building, and the general air of strangeness. I found the heroine slightly annoying and I wanted more depth to the characterizations. What I really wanted was her father's story, so perhaps I was a little disappointed in having to make do with Sabriel's instead.

So. I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't blown away, and don't feel particularly compelled to find the next one.
