As of Right Now, there are only 114 copies of Saltation available to subscription. Procrastinators, this is the Hour.

"Hidden Resources" is still sitting here on the dining room table, aging. It will age some more tomorrow, as I'll be accompanying Steve to the hospital so that he may rejoice in an outpatient Procedure.

Some, but not all, of the filing has been done.

Yes, we're still mailing Fledgling subscription books (but not tomorrow), and we can see the train end of the tunnel.

I just re-read our own [livejournal.com profile] jhetley's Dragon's Bones, coming from SRM Publisher this very month, and it's still really good. Y'all can pre-order it now. Go on; you know you want to.

I need to do the dishes.

I am uncertain whether I preordered a copy of Saltation at the time of first call and serialization, but I certainly want one. Is there a way to find out?

Write to saltationATkorval.com and tell me your real name, and I'll look it up in the database.

Odd thought... but if'n I was willing to ante up for a copy, would you (could you?) find a library that would cherish it and make it available for patrons? I'm not in a position where it's easy to find a library, but I'm willing to support getting those books out there for readers... might even be a few other folks willing to sponsor a book for a library?

It's an interesting thought, but pursuant to the recent discussion on the Friends of Liad list, perhaps not easily implemented. Our town library does go through donations first and if a book is new and well-reviewed and/or an addition to a thin collection (such as the science fiction section), they will put it on the shelf. The rest go to the Friends of the Library Sale.

Other libraries, ref. the conversation on the FoL list, apparently put all donations into the sale; I've also heard of libraries that refuse donations from non-patrons.

Best thing would be for someone who wishes to give a book to a library is to take delivery of the book themselves and donate according to local custom.

I know that doesn't help you out much, situated as you are.

Just wanted to let you know that since you are our GoHs next year, a club member / long-time friend wanted a recommendation for a book to read. I loaned him Fledgling. He finished it quickly and is now working his way through our Liaden collection. Not sure if he will move on to the non-Liaden books, but I am certain he will give them at least a look.

My copy of Fledgling arrived safely to its north (or strictly speaking west and a little south)of the border home. Now I must dispose myself to patience until the end of the workday.

Done. Cathy, can you tell SRM where to deliver? And I will send some funds along, and we'll get that book in the hands of a reader.

Slight amendment to Mike's note: Kathy, can you tell Sharon where to deliver -- saltationATkorval.com.

Fledgling and Saltation are Lee and Miller productions, not SRM -- a small point, but dear to the heart of the tax-man.

It's lovely to see this idea morph into reality so quickly.
