As of Right Now, there are only 114 copies of Saltation available to subscription. Procrastinators, this is the Hour.

"Hidden Resources" is still sitting here on the dining room table, aging. It will age some more tomorrow, as I'll be accompanying Steve to the hospital so that he may rejoice in an outpatient Procedure.

Some, but not all, of the filing has been done.

Yes, we're still mailing Fledgling subscription books (but not tomorrow), and we can see the train end of the tunnel.

I just re-read our own [livejournal.com profile] jhetley's Dragon's Bones, coming from SRM Publisher this very month, and it's still really good. Y'all can pre-order it now. Go on; you know you want to.

I need to do the dishes.

Not only was Web of the Trident never published, it was never written. Therefore, no -- we have no plans to publish it via Webscriptions or through any other medium. Also -- and this seems very, very difficult for readers to understand, so it must be a Writer Thing with which we can only ask you to have patience -- because Web was being (not) written during the (very traumatic and very expensive (and I'm not just talking about money, here)) meltdown of Meisha Merlin, it's unlikely to ever be written. It has Terrible Associations and Bad Karma splattered all over it; I can't even bear to think about opening the file.

This is an "uncounted" cost of the MM disaster - and another reason why books are not like widgets.

We are very sorry to disappoint the legions of Gem's readers, and hope that some of them, at least, can find solace and even satisfaction in the newer Lee and Miller works that have been, and will be, coming out from Baen and from SRM, Publisher.

For those who work better from a list, below are the Lee and Miller books and novels that have been published since 2007:

AsyouknowBob, some time back Buzzy Multimedia contracted for the audiobook rights to Local Custom, and were fortunately able to impose upon Michael Shanks of Stargate fame to read the novel. The audiobook is now available through SRM Publisher in two! exciting! flavors -- an 8-disk CD set OR a a single-disk MP3.

And? SRM is offering both sets at a significant discount from retail. Sweet, huh? You owe it to yourself to check these out.

While you're over at the SRM catalog check out the other featured books, including! Partners in Necessity. Yep, Steve did find another case or two when he moved the stuff out of the basement. We thought there were more...

Today, we followed the Plan, the Plan being: Arise early, and yet not too early, don clothing appropriate to the day and hour and hit the Butchers Block in Fairfield for breakfast. Having eaten well, and yea verily caffeinated, too, we removed to SRM Galactic Headquarters, there to sign a quarter-zillion books. This small task accomplished, we to Shaw's and then Hannaford to do some modest hunting and gathering before returning home to the Cat Farm, there to dispose fitly of the Subway sandwich that we had likewise hunted and gathered, and so to our scattered computers went.

Steve is still working. I finished Chapter Eight, found a quote for the top of Chapter Nine and got set up for tomorrow's labor among the vines: Big tea party, very posh, lots of poisonous chit-chat -- you know I want to be fresh for that.

For those who have opinions on favorite -- and not-so-favorite -- series, Laura Anne Gilman, our own [livejournal.com profile] suricattus, talks about continuity matters here (and with a nice nod to the Liaden Universe®).

The weatherbeans are still calling a Big Storm Sunday afternoon into Monday morning, with a total accumulation of 8-12 inches. I hope it's true this time, 'cause I could sure use not going in to work on Monday.

For now, I guess I'd better make myself some kind of useful and do the dishes.

*SRM Publisher's Captain-Owner Steve Miller interviews Lawrence M. Schoen ([livejournal.com profile] klingonguy) here

*December's bill from Central Maine Power Company (arrived today) was $119 less than the normal budget payment

*Payroll forgot to cut my check this week

*They'll be doing a direct deposit which will show up on Friday instead of on Thursday, so no harm done, except, yanno, psychic

*Steve is on the road to the late great state of Maryland while I languish here in Maine, and Scrabble knows who to blame

G'night...

Buffalito Party!

Those of you who were at Denvention and came to the SRM Publisher suite had the felicity of meeting Lawrence M. Schoen (aka [livejournal.com profile] klingonguy, author of the unfolding story of the Amazing Conroy, whose interesting life became even more exciting with the inclusion of Buffalo Dogs.

At the con, Lawrence celebrated the publication of his third chapbook with SRM, Buffalogistics. That was fun, but Steve and Lawrence decided that they wanted to have Even! More! Fun! and to invite everybody on the internets to have fun, too.

So, here it is: In honor of the Buffalo Dogs, SRM is having a coupon sale. Go to the SRM Publisher catalog and check out Buffalogic, Buffalogenesis, and Buffalogistics by Lawrence M. Schoen. Check out the rest of SRM's offerings while you're there (you know you want to), including cool books from small presses like Paper Golem and Hadley Rille, and hard-to-find Meisha Merlin editions. Put lots of stuff into your shopping cart.

When you're done shopping and getting ready to check out, put BUFFALITO into the coupon code box and -- hey, presto! -- you will receive two dollars off of your order.

Now, how cool is that? Coupon expires September 18, so time's a-wastin'.

Have a blast, buy some great books, and get some bucks off, too. And, while you're in a party mood, drop by and congratulate [livejournal.com profile] klingonguy on the sale of his first novel!

In honor of Steve's (aka Elan Neruda's) talk at the Second Annual Second Life Book Fair, fairgoers were able to download a discount coupon at the SRM Publisher booth, said coupon being good for one free copy of The Tomorrow Log mass market paperback (a $6.99 value!), plus postage.

There are still some promotional copies of The Tomorrow Log mass market available, entering coupon code SLBF2008 at check-out will get you that free book or -- it will give you a $6.99 discount on any book in the SRM catalog.

Just to tempt you: There are only about 400 copies of Liaden Universe Companion Volume One in mass market left, and SRM does have in stock Meisha Merlin editions of Partners in Necessity, Plan B, The Tomorrow Log, Balance of Trade, and, of course, chapbooks Dragon Tide, Necessary Evils, Calamity's Child and many more. That's a lot of good reading -- and a discount, too!

If you are writing to SRM Publisher regarding the status of your order, please give us whatever purchase details you may have. A PayPal transaction number; the order date; your check number, something more for us to go on than, "Some time ago, I ordered..." or "I haven't received my order."

The thing is, see, if you haven't received your order after a reasonable amount of time? Means it probably got lost on our end, or waylaid on its way to korval.com from PayPal. And if the order is lost, I have to go dig it out of PayPal's archives, or sift through the record of checks received to find it.

So, the more information you can give us about a missing order, the faster we can fix the problem. Win-win.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled sporadic blog.

Allies: Adventures in the Liaden Universe (R) Number 12 is now closed for pre-orders.

It will be available as a regular item in the SRM catalog on Monday, November 20.

Thank you all. I'm amazed and humbled by your generosity.

SRM Publisher (which would be [livejournal.com profile] kinzel and me) is getting low on Liaden Universe(R)Companion Volume One, and we're trying to do decide what, if anything, to do about that. Your input is solicited below; discussion in comments.

Thanks!
