Not only was Web of the Trident never published, it was never written. Therefore, no -- we have no plans to publish it via Webscriptions or through any other medium. Also -- and this seems very, very difficult for readers to understand, so it must be a Writer Thing with which we can only ask you to have patience -- because Web was being (not) written during the (very traumatic and very expensive (and I'm not just talking about money, here)) meltdown of Meisha Merlin, it's unlikely to ever be written. It has Terrible Associations and Bad Karma splattered all over it; I can't even bear to think about opening the file.

This is an "uncounted" cost of the MM disaster - and another reason why books are not like widgets.

We are very sorry to disappoint the legions of Gem's readers, and hope that some of them, at least, can find solace and even satisfaction in the newer Lee and Miller works that have been, and will be, coming out from Baen and from SRM, Publisher.

For those who work better from a list, below are the Lee and Miller books and novels that have been published since 2007:

And yet hope springs eternal from new readers that read everything they find for the first time.

While totally and completely understandable, it is still hoped that one day the authors might once again turn their thoughts in the direction of Gem and find happiness.

I do love me my Gem!

Well, I expect I would have enjoyed reading it, but I can sympathize with it falling in the category of things that are innocent in themselves, but nevertheless associated strongly with other things you can't bear to think about. Alas.

I am greatly looking forward to Mouse and Dragon, however. Plus (somewhat prematurely, I'll grant you) to Ghost Ship.

Definitely (Aelli is one of my favourite people, and the sequel to S and ID is very much on my want list). But really with that much output I can't complain at all, at all, 'twould be curmudgeonly...

I have had a number of friends of late who have wrestled with a number of issues involving bad past associations to places and activities that once brought them joy. I offer to you the advice I gave them. Bad memories do not fade on their own. They must be written over with newer, happier memories. But only you can determine when you are ready to take that step.

Much as many of your readers would love to see more about Gem, only you can determine when you are prepared to re-write a better history of the story. I hope that when you decide the time has come, you find it easier than you had feared.

And if you decide that that time will never come, just keep writing.

La-la-la, I can't HEAR you....

Not that I am not looking forward to everything else that's in the pipeline!

Heh ... I love this phrasing. I think I'm going to go out and acquire a set of Earmuffs of Denial.

poor, Gem, but understood...

Fledgeling rocks! My signed copy arrived as I was reading the last three pages of the copy I found at Dark Carnival. My partner complained I had splurged on not one, but two hardbacks... but I know I will need them. My original Agent is crumbly, worn and tattered but hey it is old and traveled thousands of miles with me. Good thing it has been reprinted a few times and I now have ample copies to reread.

Don’t you just hate these bleed over’s from other universes. Now, if one of these people happens to have the book from this other universe – maybe they could send it to you so you could publish it.

Got my Fledgling at the B&N. Finished it in one sitting. Dead Tree Version was great! (For you on the fence, it's not the same as the online version. Things Tie Together!) The ending felt just right, like a limo driver braking to a glass smooth stop. Definitely worth it.

I am in absolute agreement. I totally enjoyed the serial, but the way the hardcopy all came together was very satisfying. I'm looking forward to Saltation with anticipation, not frustration. :o)

Was it the authors or the Baen editor that made the released book better than the on-line version?

The Authors. Maybe someone more experienced than I can detect the touch of the Editor's pen - I can't.

I can't recall all the chapters from the serialized version. I seem to recall scenes that aren't in the published version. Likewise, I know there are scenes in the Dead Tree version that were not on the web. Character motivations, actions, new characters, different scenes, more detailed explanations of things - hey, go buy a copy and compare for yourself. :) /end commercial

Once upon a time...
There was a Book Called "The Tomorrow Log".
Published in 2003, Gem ser'Edreth was the main character. Loved his little spiders. (#15 was a cutie, if I recall correctly.)

There is no sequel. There may never be a sequel. These aren't the droids you're looking for.

Re-reading your question, I see I misinterpreted it. "The further adventures of Gem ser'Edreth", while accurate, may not be much more enlightening.

Aww... and I just finished "The Tomorrow Log", after finally setting aside the time to do so, and was so looking forward to more adventures. I do understand the reluctance to go there after the experience described, but I sincerely hope the passage of time takes enough of the edge off to enable a return. I'm sure that fans of "The Crew", Corbinye and Gem would respond with enthusiasm. Maybe crowdfunding, to demostrate that the market exists?
