Frankly, I don't know what entices readers. For every person who said to us, "Yanno, I almost didn't buy THAT BOOK because the giant turtle on the cover just Didn't Do It For Me." there is her opposite number, who not only bought the book BECAUSE of the giant turtle, but wanted a poster of the turtle.

Yes, but new readers won't have a clue who Daav is.
Have *no idea* who the couple on DRAGON VARIATION is supposed to be. I mean it's vaguely possible that it could be Daav and whatsername, Samiv tel'Izak. Or maybe Anakin Skywalker and Faith from Buffy.
But it certainly couldn't be any of the main couples in the books.

The artwork in general is great; I don't think the faces fit the descriptions of the characters particularly but I'm just going to suck it up. On a brighter note, I did find the cat this time.
