rolanni: (Mouse and Dragon)
[personal profile] rolanni

I know that some of you who read here are members of various romance lists and/or regularly participate in the various romance forums around the web.  Might I ask you, if you can do so without violating the standards of politeness of your particular list or forum, to mention that Mouse and Dragon will be coming out on June 1?

Scout’s Progress was very well received by the romance community (winner of the Prism award for best Futuristic Romance for its year (Local Custom placed second for the same year) and RomanticTimes Reviewers Choice for Best Science Fiction Book of 2002) and I would like to make sure that those readers who enjoyed that book know that there’s now a sequel.

(And of course, for those who haven’t read Local Custom or Scout’s Progress — they’re reprinted in The Dragon Variation, also to be published in June).

Baen has a very generous free sample of Mouse and Dragon here, so those who are on the fence can see if the story suits.

Thank you for your help; I do very much appreciate it.

Dear Author has a monthly post for authors to publicize their books. This is the one for May: http://dearauthor.com/wordpress/2010/04/25/open-thread-for-authors-author-promo-for-may-2010/; the June one should be later this month.

I mentioned Mouse and Dragon a week or so ago in the AAR (All About Romance) blog comments when the topic was what summer books people were looking forward to...

You're welcome. I think I even managed to mention that it is the sequel to Scout's Progress. AAR (or perhaps another romance site? it's been a while)is where I first heard about Liad--through the awards for Local Custom and Scout's Progress. So, yes, getting the word out on the romance blogs does gain you loyal readers!

Romance!?

No, no, no. Not romance! It's exciting sci-fi thriller, action adventure I tell you. I'm a guy, I can't read romance novels, and/or "space-opera", what would people think! (Ok,so I go to the "real" opera when no one is looking, that's different. There's singing)
And while we're on the topic, how about an edition with an alternate cover, something along the lines of the Meisha Merlin editions of Plan B or I Dare.
Romance, oh no!
By the way, the above goes for Wen Spencer and Patricia Briggs too.

Definitely anonymous.

Astute marketing

I found Lee & Miller late in the game when Scout's Honor and Local Custom were advertised in Romantic Times, along with the backlist, I think. Or I was intrigued enough to look it up...may you find many more fans in the genre.

I'm hoping that Baen releases the ebook earlier as per their usual practice. I'm going away for the week on May 31st. I'd love to bring the book with me.
