Have I mentioned Narbonic here? Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] djonn, I'm now hooked on this web comic. Not only do I subscribe, but I've purchased and devoured the book, and recommend that anyone with a taste for mad science, and a need for some lightness in life, to go forth and do likewise.

Like everyone else in the Known Universe, I also read MacHall on line. Volume Whatever is now available. I've been going through it slowly, not so much to savor the art, which is Really Good, but to give the autobiographical snippets by Ian and Matt the reading they merit.

I'll note in passing that this morning's Rose is Rose and Arlo & Janis are both surprisingly political, that Michael in For Better or For Worse has this morning passed a Rite of Maturity with grace and elegance, and that the Power of the Nun is undiminished in 9 Chickweed Lane.

And last but not, I think, least for the geeks 'mong us compiling their Christmas lists, may I recommend the Kill Bill hoodie as a tasteful political comment in the OS wars and a nice warm garment?

Long time lurker, first time commenter. (smirk) Found you through Alfreda89's friends list. But nevermind that right now....

About Rose is Rose, I have to ask, how is spending time with your kid pollitical? - at least that is how I read it today....

*confused look*

For pollitical I read Candorville....or Boondocks.....

Hi, there.

About Rose is Rose, I have to ask, how is spending time with your kid pollitical?

Well, but Pasquale had offered two choices for togetherness -- play football or read the headlines. And Big Jim is Obviously Horrified by the "read-the-headlines" option -- as I imagine any parent of a small child might have been. Granted, that reading is based on the NYT headlines in my inbox this morning. Could be the Gumbo's take a kinder, gentler newspaper...

I think

maybe you are projecting. As the parent of two smalls I saw it as: do the boring "adult" thing or play a game together. I saw the look as guilt at not spending enough time with Pasquale letting him be a kid. I don't think I am projecting as mine are still too small to read headlines with althouh they did bring me one of *my* paperbacks instead of one of their horde and say "mama read dis" this afternoon.
