I just now emailed the corrected! and expanded! Ghost Ship to Toni at Baen.  Hopefully, that’s got everything.  Doubtless, we’ll hear, if not.

In the meantime, I want to write!  Yes.  Yes, I do.  Unfortunately, what I want to write is probably not the next thing I ought to write, though it is one of the projects currently under discussion. And, honestly?  What I ought to really be doing is the bookkeeping.  Before it achieves sentience.

Well.

It can’t hurt to just noodle out a couple pages of Teh Shiny, right?  While we’re between contracts and all?

Yeah, I’m doomed.

Carousel Tides looks to be doing well for itself — Number Two bestselling trade paperback at Uncle Hugo’s for October! *is chuffed*.

If you’ve read the book, please do consider posting a review on Amazon, BN, Goodreads, LibraryThing, or, yanno, your website or journal.  Word of mouth is a Powerful Force for Good.

Fans of the day-job will be delighted to learn that it has graduated to Mad Scramble, where it will remain, breaking all-too-briefly for Yuletide, before shifting into high gear.

Mozart is sitting on the desk at my left hand, purring.  I think he’s happy to have All Those Papers out of his way.

Steve is in the kitchen, building grilled cheese sammiches.

Mmmmm, grilled cheese.

What small pleasure are you enjoying this evening?

Just got home from school and am hotting up some "spazgetti & meatsballs (tm)".

The small pleasure I am enjoying is finally getting to finish Carousel Tides. I got side tracked by having to grade a bunch of midTerms (I know if I don't give them and I won't have to grade them but...).

The small pleasure of anticipating a pizza and the much larger pleasure of anticipating first a 13 by 19 inch print of the cover of Ghost ship ($60 including shipping) and finally the book itself in whatever form is first available then copies in every form as it appears.

Just feeling good that three epress-online ebooks made the EPIC ebook award finals. Told everyone including Smiley and Sweetie (feline supervisors)and not one reminded me I'm just the publisher.

Seems a looooooong wait to March to find out if any won. SF, Fantasy, and Non-fiction if anyone's interested. Smiley did make some comments but I think they were more to the point of rub the other side of the jaw now.

1. being a small part of a community theatre production of Barry Manilow and Tim Rice's AIDA

2. "It can’t hurt to just noodle out a couple pages of Teh Shiny" finding that line in your journal.

3. Anticipating teh Shiny!

Hmmm....sentient bookkeeping. Sounds like a university class. Wouldn't it be nice if the books could do themselves?
Today I received an email from Amazon for this weeks top ten SFF books - Carousel Tides was #8.

Sentient bookkeeping? Eek. I have a pile of invoices calling my
name - or rather the shop's name. I would really rather they didn't come to life.

I bought stuff (toilet paper, paper towels) for the shop last night, by which point the wine shop was closed --- and we need wine for tomorrow's wine tasting. Arg. This morning they weren't open at 10 when they're supposed to be either. Double-Arg. I guess I'm getting the wine in the nick-o-time. I don't remember what I had for dinner -- I'm pretty sure I inhaled it after finding the wine shop closed. Sigh. At least lunch was both healthy and late.

Today I hope to eat on time. Though, it's raining and rain is excellent for bookstore sales. :)

Maybe I'll put on gloves to deal with these invoices - after all, how hard can they bite??

If I were independently wealthy, I would be your patron - in the fashion of the Renaissance Italians - and you could write anything you wanted, whenever you wanted. But since I am not I will simply have to buy your books.

Trying to find a suitable time to order Carousel Tides. Cause have to order other stuff with to get free shipping.

Cooked up some home made soup tonight. Yum.

My opinion is to write what you want to write. Wouldn't it come out better that way?

I have been enjoying reading Carousel Tides the past few evenings. Unfortunately I've been so exhausted that I haven't been getting very far before falling asleep.

Right now I'm enjoying the small pleasure of listening to my favorite radio show, Inland Folk, on Northwest Public Radio courtesy of the internet.
