rolanni: (Mouse and Dragon)
[personal profile] rolanni

The book signing at Barnes and Noble was fun, though the copies of Mouse and Dragon and Saltation that had been ordered in special sold out before the party started.  That’s called your mixed blessing.  Steve had a copies of Saltation and Liaden Universe® Companion in the car, and brought them in for show-n-tell.  We did sign a mmp copy of Fledgling, a couple Dragon Variations, a Meisha Merlin era Plan B brought in by a reader who had come down from Bangor to see us, and a bazillion — or at least a dozen — Carousel Tides.

We saw some familiar faces — including a coworker from a job I’d had. . . 18 years ago?, who was pleased to find that we were still writing — and some folks we’d seen at previous signings.  We met some new people, which was cool, and were only called upon to demonstrate our knowledge of BN’s internal geography once, to direct a gentleman in need of a cat calendar to the proper portion of the store.

We were up at the front of the store, between the wrapping station and the Nook counter.  Based on the action on that side, there are gonna be some ebooks sold next year.

Just to prove we were there, two pictures:

Picture One, of the authors being Auctorial:

Authors being good

Authors, being good

And, Picture Two, of the authors being Distracted:

Did you see that?

Authors, being perhaps not so good

Today, I’ve been catching up bookkeeping, laundry, dishes, and whatnot.  “Write” is on the to-do list.  I do believe I’ll do some.

Everybody having a good weekend?

Helped a friend buy an iPad yesterday. Got it set up. Only one tech support question today so all seems to be good. Laundry done.

Currently I am grading bouncing ball animations, for some definition of the word grading.

I have, for the first time in forever, ambled out to my little workspace (aka the former horse barn), and indulged in a spot of art.
And by gosh, i am pleased with it. Dowel is drying (stain), and then, I get to put it all permanently together, and , maybe, hang it on a wall in the house. Stuffs on fabric is what it is. It has made me quite happy, and to heck with wrapping, housework, and present creating.

Many congratulations on book signing and selling. Many and much more of that in the coming year I hope!

Did some Secret Santa shopping for LT's SantaThing (oddly enough, one or two L&M books wound up being selected). Now getting ready to wrap and pack for the out-of staters in the family.

After dinner, a spot of Poirot?

Would've been better if I hadn't had to work Sat! But, survivable, it was, anyway> Glad you seem to be having a nice weekend!

Found this very nice comment by another LJ author [livejournal.com profile] ramblin_phyl about Carousel Tides. Have you seen it?

Is it just my eyes going wonky? It looks as if those Carousel Tides are LARGE. I went and checked the Amazon listings -- they say Fledgling is 9.5x6.4x1.2, and Carousel Tides is 9.2x6.1x0.9, which would seem to be slightly smaller -- but that's not what it looks like on your table? And then there is the Dragon Variation! Amazon says 8x5x2.2 -- the thickness of the brick on the corner of your table looks about right. Wow! Books have gotten big and fat, huh? I'm sure glad that electrons pack better.

Aha! Fledgling paperback on the corner, perhaps, with trade Carousel... but they still look big! And whatever that brick is on the corner, it looks big and thick.

The brick next to the paperback Fledgling is just a stack of Carousel Tides postcards and happily not a book. You wanna talk heavy. . .

Oh, I meant the other corner, in front of you. Dragon Variation, maybe? Thick, anyway.

Book Signing

Such good photos. I really wish I could have been there. Great opportunity for book signing, as I've said, in the Costco in St. George UT if you ever feel like taking a really long trip. Most fly in and out of Las Vegas. I prefer flying in and out of Salt Lake City because I find the gamblers creepy to say the least.

Add me to those wishing the best for Hexapuma.

I see that you bought (or copied the idea) one of those shirts, good for you.

Just re-read Mouse and Dragon whilst feeling needy. Bought e-book version of Carousel Tides, haven't read it yet.

Keep writing,
Angie
