As reported by [livejournal.com profile] kinzel yesterday, we here at the Cat Farm and Confusion Factory are looking at some readjustments in the Regular Schedule (insofar as we can be said to have a regular schedule). The short form, for those who don't care to click the link, is that Steve will mid-next-week be attending hospital in Bangor for a day of tests and, on the next day, assuming the tests show clear, the implanting of a defibrillator.

You can see that this does kind of put a crimp in the Regular Schedule, which clearly read in part, "No Adventures" and also "Pellucid and Peaceful." Plainly, someone at the Scheduling Office is having their little joke.

There is a convalescence period after the installation; how long that will be depends on Certain Things that we cannot be privileged to know until the procedure has actually been done. Updates will happen on a Catch-as-Can basis. Good thoughts and patience, both, are much appreciated.

Continuing on the theme of excitement, a book arrived in the mail yesterday -- A Pictorial History of the Carousel. I very much thank the kind person who sent it; there was no note included, and the return address appears to be from a used bookstore in Conley, Georgia.

And! Lest I forget -- Exciting nearly beyond the telling of it was this morning's pilgrimage to Augusta, land of Bed, Bath, and Beyond, where we snabbled up a high-tech humidifier to replace our rather more low-tech unit that cocked up its toes last week.

...and I think that's enough excitement from me for an early Saturday afternoon.

What're you doing that exciting?

I conned my brother into shoveling off my sidewalk and driveway for the low, low price of a hamburger and some potato chips! It really wasn't much of a job - the association plows and shovels if we have more than 1" of snowfall, and this week we just had about 1/2" and some flurries. But it's nice to have a clear sidewalk - if only for the sake of the pizza guy! My brother actually changed a lightbulb for me too - I HATE getting up on ladders.

Brothers - even younger brothers - can actually be quite useful, every now and then!

Hope all goes well with Steve's tests & procedures next week - and take care of yourself, too -
Mary

I can get up the ladder. Getting down? Not so much.

Excitement? We went for a neighborhood walk and didn't fall down! Also petted KC, which counts for positive karma.

I know what I had scheduled for the day - doing some cooking so I'd have something to eat when we get home late during the week. Instead, my kitchen has been taken over by my husband's re-lighting project. He decided to replace all the ceiling fixtures with energy efficient recessed fixtures. (Mmmmm. Holes in ceilings. Drywall dust all over.) He did put plastic over the cabinets to protect them and makes sure the new fixtures are in before dark. It just wasn't part of my schedule today. :)

I guess this doesn't mean you get to eat out next week?

Scheduled a back xray, a CT/Mylogram for next week following a trip to the ER after calling 911. Scared both sons into calling me several times a day, but ruined a vacation I wss taking this weekend to watch #2 son run in the Disney half/marathon (which he did this morning at a respectable pace) His first ever after having weight reduction surgery.

Dr thinks something has broken loose in my back causing exruitating pain. Will probably be having back surgery next week - probably about the same time Steve will be undergoing his.

Still walking with a walker and have had to send the dogs to a home baby sitter who tells me they are very much enjoying her yard.

Pain level is (tolerable) as long as I don't try to do more than walk from the kitchen to my recliner.

Hacking my way through my fourth cold since October. Woe.

Best wishes to both you and Steve. May "pellucid and peaceful" be on your near horizon.

et's see- half our electricity has gone on the fritz and then we ran out of propane - it has been VERY cold here. Our sheltie is happy, he's getting lots and lots of walks in, which the cat follows along on here and there. I think both of them have doubled their coats! Wishing you both a safe and healthy trip to and from the doctors, and a fast and complete recovery for Steve. Kathy in CA

Selling a ton of your books here at the bookstore (Hugo's) today, no joke. Two Fledglings, a Saltation, a Mouse and Dragon, a Liaden Companion Vol. 2, two Agent Gambits, one Dragon Variation and last but not least two Carousel Tides. And that is just what I remember off the top of my head! Thinking of you both with every handsell, and hoping all goes wonderfully for the procedure and recovery to come! Bookseller Deb

We had a family come to meet one of our Maine Coon kittens (Tai) and yay, mutual like-age happened and Tai will be moving in with them. I love watching kitten and new family fall in love with each other.

We'll keep our paws crossed for Steve's procedures and healing going well.

After Saturday morning breakfast out, brother and I ran errands and by late morning were holed up back at the house. Light snow most of the day but probably only a couple inches total. Did some clean-up on the book exchange sites and had a short nap with Mr. Skitters. My kind of lazy day although it means laundry and such tomorrow.

Another brother had a combined defib/pacemaker installed a year ago in April after very serious congestive heart failure/attacks (and a month in the hospital). He is doing quite well (even went back in during the summer for gall bladder removal) so I am confident all will go well with Steve.

But me and the boyos (cats) will still send some good vibes Maine-wards.

Best wishes to Steve for his upcoming implant. Having had both back surgery and a triple by-pass, I know that he will come out fine. Steve is also at least 25 years younger than me. Hope Sharon doesn't get exhausted from shuttling back and forth to hospital.

Tell Steve he can lift nothing heavier than a pen for a while. The cats can lift themselves.

[livejournal.com profile] filkferengi says she is the source of the carousel book--it was not intended to be anonymous, but the sender's name must have been obliterated in transit. We're both at GaFilk this weekend, and when I saw this post I somehow knew to go ask if it was her work. < g>

Lots of good wishes that Steve's procedure goes smoothly!

I need to get around to a posting of my own - my darling wife spent Thursday night in the hospital after being taken to the ER for a possible heart attack. No heart attack, but a diagnosis of "coronary disease" and a follow-up CT Angiogram in two weeks.

The doctor gave her a prescription for nitroglycerin - I'm hoping she doesn't have to take any of them.

Oh, dear. Fingers crossed for the best news possible.

Well, yes. But, if she does have to take one, better that she has them.

Best of Luck
