Who has a good great recipe for oatmeal cookies they'd like to share? I had my grandmother's, but just now when I went looking for it -- it's gone. Argh!
1/2 cup butter, softened 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 3/4 cup flour (sifted) 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp baking powder 1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg 1.5 cups rolled oats 3/4 cup chocolate chips or raisins (opt)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter until creamy. Add sugars and beat until fluffy. Beat in egg.
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, and nutmeg together, then stir them into the butter-sugar mixture with a wooden spoon. Stir in oats and optional chocolate chips.
Form dough into 1.5 inch balls. Bake until edges turn golden brown, about 14 minutes.
Variations: Ginger Oatmeal Cookies: Add 3/4 tsp ground ginger. Orange Oatmeal Cookies: Add 2 T minced orange zest. Huge: Make 2 inch balls and bake them 22-25 minutes.
