rolanni: (Ghost Ship)
[personal profile] rolanni

I have here in my inbox proof that Mr. Blyly at Uncle Hugo’s has lost his wits — but in a totally good way.

He informs us that he has already told Baen that he would like to do the tipped-in signed sheet for the hardcover edition of Dragon Ship, exactly as was done for Ghost Ship.

So, yanno.  Something to keep in mind. . .

I like his attitude! Pity I'll never get to meet him (wrong country)...

Yeah! I for one would be happy to preorder tipped-in signed copies RIGHT NOW. Of course not possible but I do want to offer all encouragement and support for such a marvelous opportunity.

This is great!
I see this as a win situation for many!
1-win--we (readers/fans) get the books with signatures again, not have to search all over the internet to find someone selling one.
2-win--Uncle Hugo's sells LOTS of books in one go--this has to be a large boon to his store in sales and profit and keep him in business. I hope he sells 1000 Dragon Ship books (it was 800 for Ghost Ship he ordered)
3-win--lots of sales right off the bat for Sharon and Steve.
4-win--Baen gets lots of up front sales and wants to keep publishing Sharon and Steve.
5-win--Sharon and Steve do not have to travel all over America to sign books, can just send people to Uncle Hugo's--they can concentrate on writing, not selling.
So, yay! I bought 2 last time, will buy 2 again.
Dave, who is also in Virginia, and not likely to ever to be going to Waterville Maine to get my books signed, but is happy to buy them and have them sent here to me.

I think that's a wonderful idea. Then both halves of the duology (I'm assuming you think of GS & DS as a duology) would have the same set-up. I can order one from Uncle's Hugo's - with the signature already in - and one from somewhere else - for the faster delivery - as I did with GS. Now I'm really mad keen to read.

My personal favorite is the ebook for immediate gratification, and the hardcover for the shelf of fabulousness...

Lee and Miller are slowly edging out other authors from the premium space shelf. :)

My purchasing experience of the tipped in Ghost Ship was really quite pleasant. I had neglected to specify my preference regarding personalization due to being out-of-town. He sent me a nice email with a request for further instruction. Upon learning that I would not be available to receive until a specific date, he held the book and shipped on the day I returned home. I had an email confirming shipping and the book arrived just as I was recovered from my rather long trip. He was delightful. I wish we had such lovely booksellers here. I will, of course, be ordering Dragon Ship from Uncle Hugo's.

I will be happy to order from Uncle Hugo's again. That was one of the nicest online shopping experiences I have had. I had ordered from ABE Books before, two different stores, even, and neither one knew how to ship a book properly. Uncle Hugo's does, and it arrived safely and in perfect condition.
