So,the gentleman who was supposed to come measure the floors this morning got caught up at another job, and rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

The great shifting of the front of the house to the back of the house continues. I am, unfortunately, down to the kitchen. Where in ghod’s name am I gonna put the stuff from the kitchen? Normally? I’d put in the living room. Not an option this time, obviously.

Made bread — that makes for two loves in the freezer, so that’s all good.

We’ve — actually, that would be Steve — got the first batch of SRM stock into the mail today, headed for its new home.

Put the trash out, did dishes, wrote.

The thrills just go on forever, don’t they?

For those who read here, but not there (I don’t imagine there are that many, if any), there is a poll in progress at Eagles Over the Kennebec. Please take time to participate — or to comment, if you’re not able to do the poll itself.

And now? I’m beat.

See y’all tomorrow.

“You know what my cat does?” Tansy asked from down-table and opposite. “He sits on top the door ’til somebody comes through, then he jumps on their head!”

Well...it all started with the deck. Which has to be replaced. Why it didn't fall down last winter, I have no idea. The Goddess of Snows had pity on us, I guess.

Then, we realized that, if we want to move (which we do), we'd have to paint the place, so we said, whattheheck, we'll do the kitchen/living room (front of the house), then remodel the bathroom (which really, REALLY needs it), then paint Steve's office, my office, and the bedroom (the back of the house).

Except that...since we have to move everything out the kitchen and living ANYway, for the painters, and there's this 30-year-old linoleum/shag carpet in the kitchen/living room complex, and since I'm Absolutely Not tearing these rooms down twice (deep breath) that we might as well do the floors, too.

So, there you have it. We're idiots.

Not idiots at all. Sometimes it's just better to get it all out of the way. AND it really will improve your chances/price at sale.

If no garage, maybe wait until last possible minute and then pile it all on the bed. Sleep in the livingroom in sleeping bags which can be folded up and shoved out of the way. Or in a motel for a night or two. Do you know how long it will take? Remodeling is such fun!!!

BTW, we had to board the cats when they replaced our floor. Just to keep them out from under foot.
