So,the gentleman who was supposed to come measure the floors this morning got caught up at another job, and rescheduled for tomorrow morning.

The great shifting of the front of the house to the back of the house continues. I am, unfortunately, down to the kitchen. Where in ghod’s name am I gonna put the stuff from the kitchen? Normally? I’d put in the living room. Not an option this time, obviously.

Made bread — that makes for two loves in the freezer, so that’s all good.

We’ve — actually, that would be Steve — got the first batch of SRM stock into the mail today, headed for its new home.

Put the trash out, did dishes, wrote.

The thrills just go on forever, don’t they?

For those who read here, but not there (I don’t imagine there are that many, if any), there is a poll in progress at Eagles Over the Kennebec. Please take time to participate — or to comment, if you’re not able to do the poll itself.

And now? I’m beat.

See y’all tomorrow.

“You know what my cat does?” Tansy asked from down-table and opposite. “He sits on top the door ’til somebody comes through, then he jumps on their head!”

Heheheh ... I like that cat!
Maybe stuff from the kitchen could fit in the library? Or under the bed, even

I'm sure you mentioned why everything was moving, but I either missed it or it flew back out of the sieve I call my brain. So, are you painting and reflooring? Jacking up the floor? Fixing the house to be more liveable? Fixing it to sell? Winterizing?

KItchen stuff goes in boxes in the garage. or basement (this is the stuff you don't need on a regular basis). For daily use - the bathroom. You can wash dishes in the tub!

Well...it all started with the deck. Which has to be replaced. Why it didn't fall down last winter, I have no idea. The Goddess of Snows had pity on us, I guess.

Then, we realized that, if we want to move (which we do), we'd have to paint the place, so we said, whattheheck, we'll do the kitchen/living room (front of the house), then remodel the bathroom (which really, REALLY needs it), then paint Steve's office, my office, and the bedroom (the back of the house).

Except that...since we have to move everything out the kitchen and living ANYway, for the painters, and there's this 30-year-old linoleum/shag carpet in the kitchen/living room complex, and since I'm Absolutely Not tearing these rooms down twice (deep breath) that we might as well do the floors, too.

So, there you have it. We're idiots.

Not idiots at all. Sometimes it's just better to get it all out of the way. AND it really will improve your chances/price at sale.

If no garage, maybe wait until last possible minute and then pile it all on the bed. Sleep in the livingroom in sleeping bags which can be folded up and shoved out of the way. Or in a motel for a night or two. Do you know how long it will take? Remodeling is such fun!!!

BTW, we had to board the cats when they replaced our floor. Just to keep them out from under foot.

Build me a garage? Promise?

Meanwhile, the basement still contains almost all that was in my office/warehouse in the city. I need to turn sidewise to move between some of the piles in the basement. Bathroom contains washer/dryer/ plus usual, an is taxed already with overflow.

My kitchen stuff went into boxes (for the stuff I wouldn't be using until the renovation was done) and plastic bags (for the things I would be using - mostly a lot of paper plates and plastic cutlery). The boxes got piled with the boxes containing the books and the bags went into the den which was closed off as my clothes were living there too. It was 8 weeks of hell and I'm finally down to the last of the unpacking. Now, if only the hall closet doors would appear, the last of the renovator's gear could leave my condo.

Well, I didn't want to join LJ, so signed in as my daughter. Got a strange page with Japanese. Mmmhm. Came back here. sigh.
The synopsis really does seem quite accurate, if you leave out all character reality. But, you know, a synopsis, not the book. Yes I read synopses. Not expecting reality, but often to be warned off. Then I'll flip in the book for quality of writing, if I can. Does a bad one annoy me? No, publishing is- what it is. But I was in one or another angle of the book biz for a long long time. I don't have hope, or faith.
I just cling desperately to good stuff like yours for light in the universe. grin.

I'm getting flashbacks to the week I spent sitting on the stairs to eat, read etc. And the week that the kitchen was in boxes on the deck while the kitchen was gutted. Total trauma. Good luck. I hope that you have some little treats scheduled at frequent intervals to get you through.

Our Siamese cat, Toyon Big Foot, used to sit in the unfinished doorframe over our front door and jump down onto people's heads as they walked through. He liked my dad and brothers best, I think, because they were the tallest and he didn't have to jump so far! We are about to have all the ducting in our house redone as a new heating system is installed (no more propane, thank goodness!) and we will be without heat for a week. Praying for nice weather here in No. CA, where it has been in the high 30's this week, in the 70's last week. Go figure? Kathy in Ca
