I recently finished it. I've been having flashbacks to it, which indicates that it got under my skin. Thank you. I enjoyed it very much.
I started it interested in seeing if it would help me distinguish which attributes the two of you brought to your joint books. The only difference I noted was that there were fewer occasions where I was left thinking, "huh? obviously that was important, but whattheheck did it mean?" In your joint books, I sometimes feel like I've missed a chunk of the storyline by not understanding the importance of something. (Note that it makes me feel inadequate, rather than frustrated with the authors. The lack is clearly mine.)
But the complex, likable characters, the sneaky humor, the sense of adventure and marvel, all were there and swept me along, unable to put it down. Thank you for it.
Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed it. I had a good time writing it.
Trying to figure out which of us is responsible for which bits of the collaborative novels has been an off-and-on reader game. The thing is that not even Steve and I can point definitively to that sentence there and say, "Yep, I wrote that," by the time we're done. :)
Having now seen the numbers for myself, I would be surprised if a follow-up were wanted. Madame the Agent is seeking clarity on this point even now. If not, then the second Kate novel goes on the table as a Kickstarter novel.
