rolanni: (Ghost Ship)

So, a day of catch-up, and answering emails, and tomorrow it's back to work.  By which I mean reading Carousel Seas to the point where I had to leave it, and going on from there.  Or not.  It's close enough to finished that a cold read is going to be a big help, and even though we were only away for five days, enough happened in that five days that I feel like I've been away from the story for a month.

After an initial period of pretending not to know who I was, Mozart has gone to clinging tightly and murmuring little complaints betimes. I think that I'm to understand that we were away for far longer than was permissible, the weather was too hot, our house sitter was the Wrong Person (though ordinarily he adores her), and he was plagued the whole time by bad dreams.  Poor Mozart.

Here's a picture of the Friday night Liaden reception at BEA.  Picture taken, I believe, by Mr. Andrew L. Porter.

...this reminds me that I need to write to David, to thank him for the contents of The Tube, which we didn't open until we were safely at home.

wow, you guys look good!

Once again, I’m motivated to make a comment to your post and there is that sniggling little voice that says, “Don’t be that guy in the audience.” You know the one, the one that always has a comment and the rest of the audience are sick to death of his comments.

So, in explanation: I cruise by at least a couple times a day to read both what you have to say and the comments addressed back to you. I’m often blown away by the breadth and quality of what you’ve presented (the cat tree project, wow!) and frequently intrigued by the little slice of life or topic you’ve presented.

And I am always grateful that you’ve written. I comment sometimes because I’ve got something I’d like to say about one of your topics but also to say, “Hey, I stopped by your house and got treated real nice and thank you for that”.

So, I hope you don’t mind a repeat, repeat, repeat commentator.

Best regards, Barb

PS The mysterious tube? What would one have to do to get a glimpse? Or are you too much enjoying foolin’ with us?

I don't mind comments; I like them. It's too bad of me that I don't always get back to comment on the comments. Press of business, rather than lack of interest -- and I hope that people understand that. I do read all of the comments.

It was interesting the number of folks at the Liaden reception who said that they read my blog. Some, I knew from name-tags. Others -- not so much.

As for what's in the tube...that will be Revealed...

I'm another one who comments a lot. Am very grateful for your journal. It's so wonderful. As far as I know you are the only Author who writes so completely about her life. Loved the photo. Looks like you were having a great time. And then there's the cats.

Poor Mozart. Bad cat complaints? dreams? I hope he's completely recovered soon from his ordeal. Obviously he's a very sensitive soul.

Well. . .Mozart is rather elderly, in coon cat terms -- 15 cat years works out to something over 70 human years -- and he recently, and in very short order, lost two companion cats. If we don't come back in a couple hours, I think he worries that we've been eaten by predators...

It's particularly frustrating, because -- if only we could actually talk to each other -- this would be easy to clear up, and would (apparently) save him quite a lot of worry.
