Wow, I have not read "Dancer of the Sixth" since the mid-nineties, but I really liked it at the time. There were some fantastic books in the Del Rey Discovery series -- I also particularly liked "Mistwalker" by Denise Lopes Heald and "Nameless Magery" by Delia Marshall Turner.

Come to think of it, that's how I found Rosemary Kirstein.

If you like Patricia Briggs' books, Shifting Shadows, the anthology of stories in the Mercy Thompson universe is out. I just finished it - I enjoyed the re-read of the ones I had seen, the catching up with the ones I missed, and the new ones she slipped in.
