Thanks for the reminder. I've got to locate my copy of the Wen Spencer book I'm glad to know its available as an ebook. I wish she'd written a sequel. Not that I don't enjoy the Tinker books.

I liked Tinker. I also had fun with Eight Million Gods.

Do you intend to read Conspiracy of Kings, the fourth Attolia book?

I loved A Brother's Price and wished she would write more in that arena.

I'm still thinking about A Brother's Price.

On the one hand, I felt that I was sold a potential villain early on, who then not only didn't materialize, but sort of faded right away. This could, of course, Be Me.

In terms of genre-bending, and grafting genres -- well done.

In terms of story. . .as I said, I'm still thinking, but at this point, I'm inclined to feel that what made the story work on all its levels was the Whistler family, and their. . .interesting ancestors. Had our hero not come from such intrepid stock, I don't know that I would have liked him so well. As it was, I didn't like him much above half, which is my usual engagement with straight romance heroines, so that's more a compliment than a complaint.
