Believe it or not, signing your name over and over is Really Boring.

Happily, I have (1) a short name, and (2) only 100 books to sign.

Still, I'm sorta bored, anyway, and a little down from this dumb illness, so!

Those who have read at least two of the Carousel books, tell me in comments:

Who do you love?  Huh? Huh? Who is your favorite character in the Carousel books, and why?  C'mon, you can tell me.

THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE CAROUSEL BOOKS, YOUR ATTENTION PLEASE!
There are likely to be spoilers in comments.  If you don't want to be spoilt?  Don't read comments.

Let the game begin.

Just one? I am very fond of Nancy Vois. Seems to me she's sometimes scared but does her best anyway, and I always have a soft spot for strays.

Peggy Marr. I just love her no-nonsense, take no prisoners, approach to things. The scene where she decides that she can accept that none of her workers have any documentation, or "normal" names, and just sits down and creates the minimum paper trail to keep New Jersey happy.

Gaby. I'd like to know more of her back story. (And, btw, thanks again for the story on Moss. That was lovely.)

It depends which book I am reading, and what page I am on! And do any or all of the carousel animals count as a character. Right now I am in love with Kate's Cat. Of course she would be adopted by one that identifies with stone.
(And thanks alot for todays time sink. Must wash dishes must wash dis ...must READ)

Glad to hear I'm not the only one! This question has my chores going undone as I reopen book 1 and make sure all three are queued up on my tablet for reading this vacation weekend.

I actually love the carousel "horses" and their backstories. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the people characters are nice, but... still..

Among the good guys, who's not to like? :-)

OK, there are tiers. No one has yet chosen Kate, and I'm going to declare her ineligible, although clearly I have enjoyed spending 3 books with her. :-)

Peggy - someone already mentioned why.
Mr. Ignat - a charming and talented! gentleman. :-)
Gaby - love to see her pop in; always glad to see the Heeterskyte, too!
Felsic came in very quietly, but grew on me as she did on Kate. Not quite as she did on Peggy . . .
And the Land! For something that doesn't say anything, the Land has a lot of personality! :-)

I probably better stop now before I wind up listing everyone . . .

Least favorite?

We have seen a range of favorite characters.

I wonder what the range of most-despised characters would look like. Is there any competition at all for leading spot?

I am not sure I can pick a favorite two-legger, plus I have not read book three yet.

But I do have a special place in my heart for the bat-winged gray... ;)

Brogan. Because who can't like a man who does home repairs. Well, and for other reasons.
