So yesterday Steve had a doctor's appointment, after which we achieved K(entucky) F(ried) C(hicken) for a take home lunch (hot grease and salt still do the trick, and that's the second KFC meal in four months.  Given that KFC is the Ultimate Comfort Food, and reserved for times of stress, we'll hope that the next is a long time in the future).

After lunch, Steve hit the mattress.  I finished getting the InfoDump in order, then sacked out on the couch, where Trooper joined me.  May I just say?  Trooper gives excellent nap.

Once we were all awake again, we reviewed one of our favorite documentary films, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, before supper, read aloud a chapter of Chanur's Legacy, and so to bed.

A strenuous day.

Today, there is checkbook wrangling, and writing, and laundry on the schedule.

Also, watching the rain disappear the snow:

I hope everyone has an excellent Friday.

We have sighted actual grass in our neighborhood.

There are swaths of straw under some of the trees, here at the Cat Farm. The lawn is still pretty much covered, however, the daffodils, which are planted against the part of the foundation that the sun (when it deigns to show itself) warms first, are trying their best to grow. I doubt we will have flowers this year.

How many weeks are we behind the season?

Judging by the canoe race schedule, two or three weeks behind.

KFC generally doesn't do much for me, but their cole slaw is outstanding.

Yeah, IMO KFC is very poor these days. I now do Popeye's for the chicken & do up my own sides. Tho I do admit the biscuits are rather tasty when fresh.

The nearest Popeyes...in fact, the only Popeyes in the state of Maine is in the Kennebunk Mile Marker 24 Rest Area off of Interstate 95 (aka The Border). Figure 3 hours to get there; 3 hours to get home.

We do stop there for dirty rice and a biscuit pretty often on the way home from Away.

For 20 some odd years we only had one Popeye's in the state also. It's better now as the franchise for KFC went bust & Popeye's came in. Now we in Minneapolis are waiting for Dunkin Donuts, same story gone for 20 years and after Krispy Creme came and they to went kaboom.

Weather and grass

Here in MO we're actually have to cut the grass for the 2nd time (if it would stop raining)

We got 90 acres (of 250 planned) of corn planted before it got too wet.
We don't need to go to the boats to gamble, farming does that for us.
