The new year is coming right on down the tracks, and that means -- lining up good reading for 2023 and! making travel plans.
Here are a few datapoints to help you plan.
January 3, 2023: Chicks in Tank Tops publication date. Edited by Jason Cordova, with brand new stories from Esther Friesner, Kevin Ikenberry, Jody Lynn Nye, Joelle Presby, Marisa Wolf, Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, and? More! No, honestly, there's a whole lot of good reading in this book, and you don't want to miss out. Available from your favorite bookstore.
January 5, 2023: Rembrandt's Station by Christie Meierz releases, a happy fact that will be celebrated by a Zoom launch party on January 7. Steve and I will be there, and hope that you will, too. Party details here
February 17-19, 2023: Boskone 60. GOHs: Nalo Hopkinson, Vito Ngai, Tui T. Sutherland, Dave Clement. Steve Miller and Sharon Lee will be attending in person after a several year gap. We cannot yet reveal our schedules, but we can say that we will be reading from Salvage Right, the 100th Lee and Miller collaboration; participating in a few panels, and hosting a kaffeeklatsch. Hope to see you there. Here's your link to register
February 28, 2023: The anniversary re-issue of the classic Liaden Regency, Scout's Progress, with a new and exciting cover by Sam Kennedy, and! a new foreword by the authors, releases from All the Usual Suspects.
Looking a little further down the line -- April 28-30, 2023: Heliosphere 2023. GOHs: Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, David M. Mattingly. Registration is open and though it is a thought over four months away, we urge you to register now. Heliosphere is a small con and depends on its pre-registrations. Here's your link.
And, going way, way out, now -- July 4, 2023, Salvage Right, the 25th novel set in the Liaden Universe® created by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller back in the last century, releases from all of your favorite bookstores.
. . . I think that's enough to get us started.
Here ends the year-end advertising special.
Celebrations and Appearances
Thursday, February 26th, 2015 01:22 pmKorval.com is back up. Thank you for your patience while Steve -- who is a Hero of the Revolution -- got this sorted out. It was Rather Ridiculously Complicated to untangle, involving as it did intelligence, counterintelligence, the missing persons bureaus of several large metropolitan police departments, and a bevy of hedgehogs. In the end, however, Steve prevailed, and we are once again live.
If you sent email to either of us at a korval.com address, and got a bounce message, please do send it again, if it is still relevant. Thank you.
So -- that's one reason to celebrate.
The other reason to celebrate is that the release date for Christie Meierz' new book, The Fall, third in her Tolari Space series, is March 2, and she's throwing a party on Facebook, from 8-10 p.m. EST.
This link for the party is: https://www.facebook.com/events/906994769322555
The last time Steve and I attended an online party was in Second Life, a few years ago, so this will be a new experience for us, but we'll be there, with a bunch of other authors and readers, to send The Fall out into the world, and wish it well.
Fellow celebrants are: Corrina Lawson, Cat Rambo, Jael Wye, Heather Massey, Laurie A. Green, and Veronica Scott. And? There will be giveaways! You don't want to miss this chance to meet and mingle, so mark your calendars now -- and we'll see you there!
And I think that's all the news that's fit to print from the Cat Farm, where Sprite is staring out the side window of my office, Trooper is snoring in the co-pilot's chair, and Scrabble, in Steve's office, sleeps with the heffalumps.
Join the fun!
Friday, January 18th, 2013 11:21 amStill need quotes, lots of quotes! For a Liaden party game! It seems I was maladroit by asking for "favorite" quotes from the Liaden books, and this has constrained people. I'm looking for quotes from the Liaden Universe® novels and stories that made you chuckle, quotes that made you mad, quotes you remember, quotes that you think will baffle even another Liaden reader.
In the spirit of Alice's Restaurant, I'm trying to collect all the quotes in one place, that place being here.
This is a moderated forum, which means your post may not appear immediately you hit enter, but it will appear, eventually, trust me.

Call for Volunteers: Boskone
Now, asyouknowBob, February is the Silver Anniversary Month of the Liaden Universe®. We're going to be doing some web-celebrating, and we'll also be hosting a party at Boskone. It is with the latter that we need some help.
Specifically, we need somebody who can go to Costco or the grocery store or whatever works in Boston with a list and money (provided by the authors). Alternatively, someone local with a car who can drive author(s) to
Costco/grocery/whatever works on Friday afternoon and help with the schlepping.
Also! we need someone to help with the party itself, including possibly occupying a room on the party floor.
If you can help with any of this, please drop Steve a note at kinzelATkorvalDOTcom
Thanks!
