Don't remember if I've done this yet here so I will now. Greetings. I'm Orla. My guy introduced me to your writing and now whenever someone is looking for a book to read I suggest yours. While I've never had the pleasure of meeting you, I have your signatures on the box that D keeps your Chapbooks in. You might remember signing it, this (http://pics.livejournal.com/orlaith/pic/00011d1c/g8) pic of me was on the front. :) I'm pretty sure D got you to sign it when you were at Boskon last year.
It's perfectly OK to friend me -- just don't be hurt if I don't friend back. I have to keep my Reading List (which is what LJ should have called it, instead of a Friends List, IMNSHO)small, so I'm not tempted to just read blogs all day, instead of, um, writing :-)
Hi! I've met you several times -- on trips to Kansas City as well as during WorldCon at Stephe's table. I've introduced many people to your work, thus growing the clutch of readers.
I plan to look in your LJ background info to see if you have an e-mail address.
I think I haven't introduced myself yet, though I've been reading your LJ for a good time now. Hi, I'm Tarja from Finland, and I used to be on the Liaden mailing list, but unsubscribed at some point due to some rl stuff.
I love the Liaden books, and have bought several of the chapbooks as well. I'm still waiting for my copy of Crystal Dragon to arrive, but my bookseller assures me that it should finally get here sometime this week... Hope so!
I saw your Livejournal link over at LibraryThing, and added you. I'm a big fan of your Liad books - I just got myself Crystal Soldier and Crystal Dragon for my birthday.
I've commented several times, but haven't actually introduced myself (not wanting to seem too 'me-centric') Love your work, have introduced so many of my friends to it, even sent the entire Liaden opus to a dear friend who couldn't afford it on her own. Totally amused by the references to places in the Baltimore area since I've lived in the general area for many years now. My lj name comes from the character I play at the MD renn fest.
Sorry it took so long for me to get back to your question. Yes, that's me, three years ago. I've got a new one now, all purple and silver. We've got the greatest costumer I've ever worked with. I've also got several similar gowns that I've made myself, for other gigs, but MDRennfest lasts so long (19 days, outdoors, from 9 to 7) that I don't care to use my own when they provide such quality. I hold, however, that the early tudor style, when properly fitted (not overly tightly laced as in Victorian times) is one of the most becoming gowns on any figure. I love to play dress up! (can you tell?)
Ages ago, some crazy guy wrote to you from Japan asking when your next book would be out? And you were kind enough to reply with a signed copy of The Naming of Kinzel (I think that's the title)?
So I'm still reading, although I've been back to America and am in Japan again now. And got an LJ account so I could keep up with you!
Thanks for all the memories. And someday I'll figure out how to put enough shipping and handling on.
I've left an anonymous comment (that knit-blog, locked-out-of-the-hotel-room link), but haven't otherwise. I've been enjoying your books for years, though! I don't have a Live Journal one, but I do have a blog. www.chappysmom.typepad.com, though it's primarily about knitting and spinning . . . but I talk about the books I read, too.... --Deb
Hi, I'm Jim Hetley's elder son, the one he periodically asks for computer advice. I've been a fan of your writing for a while now, and I'm going to need to soak up some linux knowledge since I too wish to avoid Vista, so reading this journal from my friends list rather than whenever I remember seemed like a good idea.
I only just discovered you had a livejournal -- :-)
Just got the InfoDump and ordered the 3 chapbooks which I am behind on, and while poking about discovered your LJ.
I've been loving the Liad books for several years now, after having fallen headlong for Daav when a lone copy of Scout's Progress (literally) fell off the shelf on me at The Other Change of Hobbit and I decided it was a Sign that I had to read it :-).
Loved the Crystal Soldier & Dragon. Very much looking forward to the chapbooks.

Date: 2006-10-11 12:42 pm (UTC)I dunno -- falling for Daav. Potentially v. dangerous to one's health. On the other hand, he'd already hit you in the head...
Loved the Crystal Soldier & Dragon.
Bless you. :)
