Things I Learned Today
Tuesday, August 24th, 2004 05:15 pm1. Do not ever, under any circumstances whatsoever, and especially if days&days&days have gone by with no problem, trust Microsoft Publisher not to screw you. (So, OK; I knew that. Call it a lesson relearned.)
2. If you shove in the catch tray of the Lexmark multiuse thingy over there on the work table, you will never, but never, be able to pull it out again.
3. There's a fandom for My Little Pony.
4. A device exists which is called a shedding rake, and boy does it get fur outta cats.
4a. This is the exact device Mozart has been telling me and telling me to acquire so he didn't have to beat me up every time I tried to brush him.
5. Even a late WorldCon will be upon you before you can adequately prepare for it.

Date: 2004-08-24 02:48 pm (UTC)As far as the MLP fandom? I'm afraid so. It rather stunned me when I found out. A good friend of ours is a MLP fanatic, and we mailed a small herd off to her yesterday. She's mentioned the MLP fiction writing, shows, fanfic, slash...
I can only just stare in amazement, then go hide in my pile of cats. ;)

Date: 2004-08-24 03:30 pm (UTC)We got ours at Pet Quarters. It's a flexible loop of metal with fine teeth on one side and coarser teeth on the other, and a leather handle. All of the cats adore it and the fine teeth got jaw-dropping amounts of dead fur out of Scrabble, who is the shortest shorthair we've ever had.

Date: 2004-08-24 03:01 pm (UTC)You do realize that including the word "Publisher" there is being unnecessarily specific, don't you? ;-)

Date: 2004-08-24 06:34 pm (UTC)Ooookaay.
I use a shedding blade on King, my shepherd-lab mix. He has a serious undercoat that seems to shed year-round. The blade is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen, a looped blade about an inch wide with shallow teeth along one edge. My word, does it get rid of undercoat. The first time I used it, I thought I'd wind up with a chihuahua by the time I finished.

Date: 2004-08-24 06:43 pm (UTC)Signed,
The voice of experience, whose cat DID finally notice and proceeded to lick the bald spot raw.

Date: 2004-08-25 02:34 pm (UTC)Mozart especially went into this Zen-kitty thing; purring and offering his belly up to the blade. I'm thinking the best use may be as a warm-up, and after he's zoned get down to cases with the brush.

Doesn't help that I'm moving household and starting a new job the week before.
