And all is darkness and an absence of light
Thursday, February 5th, 2009 07:17 pm...our coffeemaker died this morning.
I met Steve after work and we hit the two Marts (K and Wal, for those who don't live in places where these two options are ...your options), only to discover that a coffeemaker comparable to my beloved, and now deceased, Black and Decker Thermal Select Plus was not to be had in This Town. Came home and went online. Found that there was a Cuisinart that would salve my grief; and further found that it could be had at Home Depot, so I called Home Depot -- "We don't carry coffee pots!" the woman who answered the phone assured me. Hmm. Back to Google. Found the same machine at Kohls; tracked down the number of the store in Augusta and called them. Nope, none in-house; two on order, but no way of knowing when they'd arrive.
So, I ordered the dern thing on-line, and it will be here on Monday. Or Tuesday. I foresee breakfast tomorrow at Tim Horton's, but how I'll survive the weekend is a mystery.
No writing today. There are Reasons, even good ones, but it does make me sad when I don't do any work of a day.

While they have a large selection of options, the Chocolate Mint and the Dark Cherry are the clear popularity winners here.

*no doubt anticipating your angst

I've had good luck finding them in hardware stores, supermarkets, and you might be lucky at one of the Marts.
French Press is another good idea, as mentioned in a previous comment.

Date: 2009-02-06 04:24 am (UTC)Gevalia gives coffee makers away to new customers. Just buy an initial order of coffee and get the coffee maker, free.
Yes, it's really free. One doesn't have to buy additional coffee (although one does have to cancel future, automatic deliveries).
When I needed a coffee maker a couple of years ago I went this route, and received a very good coffee maker (a Braun drip, with self-start "alarm clock" function) as the free gift. And it truly was free -- as they said I could, I canceled future automatic coffee deliveries, and kept the coffee maker.
(I also liked their coffee enough to buy more later on, but that's a separate issue.)
So if you don't like the coffre maker you ordered and send it back, you might consider this as an alternative.
