For those who would like to help Steve and me register our books that Meisha Merlin, um, forgot to copyright, per the terms of our contract with them, we will most gratefully receive PayPal payments in whatever amount seems fitting to you at rolanniATkorval.com (where @ replaces AT).

I have very mixed feelings about this -- given MM's breach of contract, it is our responsibility to see our books properly registered. However, so many people have offered assistance that I feel that we'd be churlish to simply ignore them. And then there's the whole Feeding the Cats issue...

In other news, the irises are still there(Go, iris!), the day-job was nuts, the trees are into orgy-overtime, and tomorrow it's going to be HOT. On the plus side, books! arrived from Amazon.com, courtesy of a much-appreciated gift card. I now have in hand Edison's Eve, The Last Days of the Incas, and New Amsterdam. I am wealthy, indeed.

Also? I wrote some tonight.

"Forgive you? For heeding your training, which has kept you safe on dozens of ports, and in far stranger places? I can scarcely find that a fault, van'chela, nor any cause for forgiveness. Had your training been less thorough, or yourself less advertent, I might never have met you, nor known what it was I lived in lack of."

So, if I understand the requirements for copyright registration correctly, you have to send in a copyright application form, a registration fee, and two copies of each piece of IP that you're registering.

How many MM titles does this mean? Frex, do you have to register all editions of a book, hardcover, trade and (well I guess Meisha Merlin didn't produce mass market pbs, did they?) And the omnibus editions?

And, do you actually HAVE two spare copies to send in with the reg forms? I know some titles, such as Plan B [ETA: or do I mean I Dare?] were showing as out of print/stock on SMP order pages -- would that mean you had to track down copie$ on the u$ed book market? it would be horrid [ETA: even more horrid than before] if you had to sacrifice your only author-copies in order to take care of this little MM-oversight.

I have an extra copy of Plan B that I can contribute to the cause if you need it... I originally bought it trade paperback, and later was able to get a hardback... one of the few NON-first edition NON-signed books I have of yours :o)

I'm placing this comment as taking place before the wedding, but after his rescue of Allienna out of the box. My imagination is now working overtime and my impatience is growing. It's hard waiting!

More on the Sinuses

Fun facts: Normal sinuses produce a QUART of snot fluid every day. They produce even more for those with colds and allergy activation.

You mentioned that Claritin makes you jumpy, have you tried the non "D" version? I can't take any of the blah-blah-D allergy meds. Plain versions keep eyes non-scratchy, dry-ish nose, keep teeth and ears happy, shouldn't make you want to crawl out of your skin, and best of all, aren't controlled so they hang out right there on the store shelf, available to god and everyone.

Sharon,
One thing that I found has helped with my brother's allergies is Renew Life's Fiber Smart. I recommended it to him after I was treated for some allergies by my holistic doctor, and I found that Fiber Smart had pretty much all of the things in it that I had been taking. He said it helped a lot- and he's the guy who rubbed his nose so hard as a teen that he broke it. I've also personally used some homeopathic stuff that you can pick up in health food stores- it seemed to help a bit too.

Re-reading Balance of Trade today for the gazillionth time and was thinking...this seems like not a one-off, when is the next coming...let's look at the copyright...Anyway, I found your site and I see what's going on.

Thanks millions for lots of great entertainment. I pretty much have collected ALL of your books.

Also for allergies, a neti pot can help amazingly. Helps clear out the pollen collecting up there, as well as clearing out some of the accumulated gunk.

Have you heard that the opt-out date has been pushed back for four months -- judge's ruling? http://oncopyright.copyright.com/2009/04/28/opt-out-deadline-and-fairness-hearing-in-google-book-search-settlement-delayed/

Have you seen the recent news about the four-month extension to the opting in/out business (originally set to expire next Tuesday) and the antitrust lawsuit which may be launched against Google?
