Boring old day

Did chores.  Tidied up some.  Did last tweaks to Carousel Tides proofs with an eye toward getting them in the mail tomorrow.  Scrubbled cats.  Talked to Steve on IM. Washed the winter jackets!  Wrote.  Stared at nothing.  Wrote some more.  Done writing for the day, and wondering if it’s too late to make a grilled cheese sammich.

Hope your day was more exciting.

It's never too late for a grilled cheese sammich :-)

If soap and water were involved scrubbling our cats would make the day exciting indeed, particularly the excitment of wondering if you will be able to staunch the flow of blood before you pass out.

No, no, I think that scrubbling is a more vigorous, perhaps two-handed version of scritching. Like you do to your scalp when you wash your hair, only dry, all over the cat.

I misread it as 'scrubbing' as well, thanks for the explanation.

Did housework. Did laundry. Did taxes. Not very interesting. And I owe them a little money :(

scrubbling cats?

I too am worried about those scrubbled kitties. Perhaps you could explain tomorrow. As for my dogs I am very lazy. I take them to the groomer. They are bathed and hair cut. Gus can't be blow dried because his pug eyes bug out too much. Danger of hair cutting his eyeball which has happened once in the past. So he's brushed, combed, plucked and let go. Looking much better. I have a poodle, I confess, named Shannie because of his white hair. He's a fairly new arrival. Needs the full poodlie treatment. He's very good about it. Chihuahua mixes Sophie and Chickie bathed and nails done. Chickie must be put in a very secure hold with me assisting to do the nails which she really objects to. Where I work there is a groomer at the cat shelter who grooms, bathes, brushes, cuts nails of cats. Cats coming in must sometimes even be shaved if they've been very neglected and have lots of mats. Denise there is a cat grooming genius.

100,000 words?

I am wondering if perhaps Ghost Ship will turn out to have more than 100,000 words out of necessity. Yay. More words better than less words. Of course lots of work for you. When does Steve get to write I'm wondering too? Maybe he could add some of those nice extra words. Wouldn't hurt. Well, it's easy for me to say that, right? Wondering if you are still wrestling with those angels. Would love to know if everything just kind of comes to you or if you have the feeling of someone or some thing kind of giving you the writing and the story. I just find it completely amazing what you are able to do.

Going by other books it's likely that the number will go above the 100k, then be cut back in revisions, then some more added, and so on. 100k does make working out the percentage nice and easy but I'm not going to complain if it comes out a bit more or less in the final version (I gather the publishers object if it's too much more, they are set up for a certain book size).
