So, I see that sharonleewriter.com crashed. (Actually, all of Maiahost appears to have crashed rather messily). It's back now, but entries made since last Saturday have apparently fallen through a hole in the space-time continuum. I can re-establish them from LJ, but...not this afternoon.

This afternoon, I think I'll have lunch, an antibiotic pill the size of my head, aaannnd -- a nap. Yep, another respiratory infection. Honestly, who issues these things, and how do I get off their mailing list?

In other news, it's snowing heavily, by which I mean (1) a lot and (2) the precipitation itself is very wet. Weatherbeans say 6-10 inches by the time it's all done, tonight. I say, I'll worry about that tomorrow.

Ew. Sympathies on the crud. I'm still recovering from the two bugs I caught back to back. (Who schedules these things?!)

When you have time, maybe install the DB backup (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-db-backup/) plugin. You can have it automatically back things up once a day, either saving the file to the server or emailing it to you. (Gmail accounts are great for that sort of thing.) Of course, restoring from the backup file takes some know-how, and in this case I don't think it'd be worth the trouble, but it's good to have backups around if the host has a more serious problem.

Get well soon!

Sorry to hear you've been hit with another respiratory infection. I used to get at least 2 or 3 chest infections per year until I started getting a flu shot. I know it doesn't work this way for everybody (my husband for example) but I found that flu shots meant that I largely stopped getting colds let alone chest infections. In fact I went without even a cold for a whole five years ( in a university!) In UK flu shots are free on NHS if you have a chronic condition like asthma, for instance. However it's made such a difference to my general health I would have to make a point of getting one anyway.
Hope you feel better soon.

...just remembered a while back you mentioned a sinus problem. Maybe it works the same way as a chest infection. Perhaps by preventing the viral infection the following bacterial infection is avoided. Or maybe not.
Good luck.

Nasty flus are going around here this winter. Hay, everyone's got to make a living on this planet. Even viruses.

My dentist recommended to ward off respiratory infections for his son and also for anyone like me: asthmatics,... that we wash out our noses several times a day. One used to use an Asian Indian invention called a Nettie Pot. But now one can buy easy spray type thingies in the pharmacy or supermarket. A very good one is XClear. An acceptable cheap one is Simply Saline. Kills the bugs coming in through the nose.

Also at the first sign of a flu take something like Zicam. I take something with a very long name that begins Occi....Sold everywhere. The Occi....works for me.

After using antibiotics...you may know this already...they kill the good as well as the bad bacteria. So after a course of antibiotics take acidophilus in some form or other for as long as one has taken the antibiotics...I'd avoid yogurt which, like all milk products, causes congestion which just makes colds and flus worse.

Get well soon!

I am a firm devotee of the flu shot. Last year I got H1N1 before the vaccine was available and it put me out for 2 weeks. This year I got the shot and I've barely had a sniffle, mostly from allergies.

People I know who have problems with respiratory infections will sometimes get the pneumonia vaccine. It's a once in a lifetime vaccine.

Finally, I think it's stress of which you have had plenty this year and which is unfortunately out of your control at this time. Wish I were there to bring soup. We have a great recipe for chicken soup that is unlike anything that comes in a can.

Colds, etc.

You know, I haven't had a cold for a long time, maybe five years or more. Do you suppose it is the flue shots? I've been figuring the Nasonex,(occasionally) and the calcium stuff that is shot up the nose. Only one side a day. Otherwise I think it takes skin off. Maybe it is killilng all the germs, too!
