So, we here at the Confusion Factory have been plotting.

Plotting books, that is, since we have four left to write on the current contract.

We are, of course, most closely plotting the next book in line, Book The Second, and in the spirit of that plotting, I devoted my morning to reading the 26,000-ish words removed from Dragon in Exile because they didn't belong there.  It's now Steve's turn to read those words, while I commence in to reading a large-ish chunk of Crystal Dragon.

In order to read in comfort, I of course repaired to the couch, where I very soon gathered Able Assistants.  I took my smartphone with me, and made some notes on it, via Evernote, which were conveniently awaiting me on the desktop when I came back to my office after lunch.

Yay! technology.

On the weather front, we seem to have survived the season's first nor'easter:  three days of wind and rain, and rain and wind, and, for a change, rain and wind.  The sky is appreciably brighter, by which I mean, it's a sort of semi-luminous slate-grey.  Possibly tomorrow we will see the fabled sun described in tales of yore.

And now, I'm headed back for the couch and the day's second bout of reading.

The glamor, yeah.  Non-stop.

Here, before I go.  Have some pictures of my assistants, hard at work:

I remember my only time in Maine - flew into Portland on a DC-7b, which landed and turned around on the runway to taxi back down the runway towards what passed for a terminal. Baggage claim was an open shed with a tin roof. It was cold and overcast the whole time.

Of course, this was back in the late 60's, when things weren't as sunny and civilized as I'm sure they are now (looking at Google maps satellite view.) ;)

Wow, was that Portland Jetport? If so, they've really classed the place up since. Just did another renovation a couple years ago: http://inhabitat.com/genslers-portland-international-jetport-lands-leed-gold-certification/

Yes, but they couldn't handle jets yet, hence the DC-7b, and they didn't even have taxiways. What passed for the terminal, as best I recall, is near where the tower is now. Not sure if it's the same tower or not - too long ago ;p

Everybody is doing needed airport and runway renovations. I usually fly out of San Jose, and every time I go there, it's like a completely different airport.

That I may need to do something about the desk arrangement when we sell this house and move. The desk I have currently is a massive corner RTA desk that is kind of decrepit. There is a window to the right and both Ripley and Siegfried like to sit on the desk to sleep/watch birds/watch mom do Stuff.

Was planning on having a much smaller desk and a separate beading workstation. May have to figure out something for a cat bed near the desk... hmmm.

The grey pillow in your lap gave me a "duh!" (why didn't I think of that?!) moment -- That could work for me. However, my current setup includes a comfy arm chair with a generous ottoman and lap robe of choice, and a reader table that has a plug strip with a 12' cord screwed to the underbeneath of it to facilitate Kindle/tablet/laptop, internet radio, reading lamp, etc., with room left over for beverage of choice (and carafe containing more of same). The reader's table has a part that tilts to an adjustable angle and it has *wheels*.

I don't have Able Assistants. I have Close Associates (also of the feline purrsuasion), one of which seems to think he needs to be closely associated with me at all times, including underfoot while I'm walking). I tend to accumulate them where ever I settle. (I'm the best show in the house.) One of mine, although he is not Maine Coon, is similarly luxuriously upholstered. He is half Siamese (the opinionated and vocal half), and half Godknows.

As for the Carosel books, I don't think it's an "urban" fantasy. Archer's Beach is too small to be an urb. Urbs are cities. (Small town fantasy?) How about "coastal fantasy" as a genre?
