What did you think of "Stealing the Elf-King’s Roses"? I'd never heard of it until I saw it on your list. The blurb at Barnes & Noble makes it sound like a sloshy 'first time writer' sort of thing, but I've read Duane's "Tale of the Five" and "Wizard" books so I know that she's not that.

I usually enjoy Diane's work, but . . .Roses frustrated the heck out of me. A great many people adore it, and I wanted to like it, but it didn't work for me at all.

Ooo, so it wasn't just me *wipes brow in relief*
I mean, I liked it, but ... something just wasn't jelling for me ...

I liked it very much. It's not what I expected when I picked it up the first time.

I haven't read R.A. McAvoy in years, although I loved Tea With the Black Dragon. What did you think of Death and Resurrection?

Nobody's read Bertie in years; she dropped out of sight in the early 90s.

Tea with the Black Dragon, and The Grey Horse are my favorites of hers. The newest -- was a disappointment. It seemed to have been written in a couple chunks -- which there's nothing wrong with -- over a period of time, and the chunks got. . .less compelling as the book progressed. The last chunk is nothing more than a sketch for the concluding piece that ought to be there.

My book club is reading Georgette Heyer for next month. We can read any of the novels we chose. I have turned in Sharon and Steve's list for 2012.

I have in my possession now "Tea with the Black Dragon". I appreciate all the book tips.
